If you receive an invoice in the Bancontact Pay app, you can be 100% sure that it is a legitimate payment request.
Copying payment details from the invoice is a thing of the past: everything is pre-filled in the app. The payment just needs to be confirmed.
As soon as a new payment request is available, you will receive a notification from the Bancontact Pay app.
Solution against phishing and overflowing mailboxes
In recent years, phishing has become a gigantic problem: in 2025, as many as 10 million suspicious messages (!) were reported to Safeonweb. Scammers are also going about their work in an increasingly professional manner: they mimic the layout of invoices almost perfectly. Invoice fraud is unfortunately on the rise.

One-time user consent
Users of the Bancontact Pay app can give one-time permission to receive invoices directly in the app.
Payment requests from participating companies are presented in the Bancontact Pay app if there is a match with the user's email address or phone number.
This way, the user is always 100% sure that the payment request is legitimate and can thus pay with peace of mind.
Notifications for new payment requests
As soon as a new payment request is available, the user will receive a notification from the Bancontact Pay app.
Fast and secure mobile payment
A POM payment page then opens with the payment details of the invoice (amount, communication, beneficiary, due date) and possibly a link to the document.
The payment can be made quickly and easily in the Bancontact Pay app.
